James Burr began his career in the commodity industry when he joined Farmers Commodities Corporation in 1981 as a commercial grain hedger. Promoted to office manager in 1986, Mr. Burr pioneered the firm's entry into the energy futures market. Mr. Burr developed the derivatives division of FCStone in 1990, which became FCStone Trading, LLC of which he is currently Vice President. In 2000, when Farmers Commodities Corporation acquired Saul Stone and Company, one of the oldest Futures Commissions Merchants in the nation, the two firms reorganized as FCStone Group, Inc. With more than 29 years of experience managing risk for commercial accounts, ranging from retailers to end users, Mr. Burr possesses a unique understanding of the strategic use of derivatives, physicals, and the futures market as beneficial tools to manage risk and improve profits. A known keynote speaker, he utilizes his expertise with cash contracts, futures and derivatives to assist clients with the risk management skills needed in today's marketplace. Mr. Burr holds a bachelor degree's in Animal Science and Agricultural Business and a master's degree in Agricultural Business.
